Today I Did some more work on the truck.
The Hydraulic pump I was repairing is complete and it is working.
It is however leaking some oil on a blocking nut. It will be looked after some other time.
In order to tilt the cabin the grill has to be in its upright position. Since there are apparently some parts missing I had to take it from the truck. I also removed the Bumper with headlights to get better access to the clutch pump.
With the cabin in the upright position a got better access to the feeding pump and could pump it up with fuel.
The next thing I did was to take the battery's I got and hook them up. They are a bit to large to get in the compartment for it so I made the cannections with some jumper cables.
And the I tried to start it. Battery's are low so the charger was plugged in and after a while I tried to start it again.
With success after a few moments.
The engine was running first at a low idle and stalled several times. After A while trying it kept running at first not on all cylinders but then it took of. It was soon revving at high rpm's and the gas-pedal was not reacting. After some time the rpm sank a little and I tried to shut it off but the knob to shut it off was not working?
I kind of got in a little panic. I got however access to the pump where the gas paddle leads to and bent the rod connecting to the pump.
This was enough to get the engine stopped.
This last picture you can see the black sooth that came out of the engine.
Next I did was to take the clutch pump out and the cylinder. They all seemed to be in good condition. But I will have to take them apart to be on the sure side.
The 2 bolts that were holding the pump in place gave me some headache I was able to get 1 loose and the other would not come loose. At last I tried with a hammer and chisel to split the nut but the flange on ones side broke of .
That's it for today.
