A year back in time I met a guy and we became friends, I bought several machines from him which he was selling for an other friend.
I then noticed a truck, Standing in a pasture and it looked like it was standing there for a while. At first I didn't give it much thought. But after a while I asked my friend if it was for sale, it was and the guy was asking about 1500 Euro for it.
So I took a closer look and found it was in really bad shape. All covered in Mos and rust all over. I told him it was beyond repair.
A few months have passed and in the mean time I started with the restoration of a Kaiser Willy's Jeep. I liked working on it very much with some good results.

This is the blog for the Jeep.
So since the Jeep project was nearing its end a longed for a other Challenge.
And the truck came back to mind.
I asked my friend if it was still for sale and what would be his lowest price.
After some time we agreed on a fare price of 800 €.
I went back to take a closer look on the truck and I then found out it was a Magirus Deutz truck. We looked for the papers of the truck and they were nowhere to find. So that was a set back.
This is the way I found the truck sitting in its pasture.
At work I asked if it were possible to have the low bed truck to move the truck to my home. It was possible but only with the driver of the truck.
Before I planned a date to pick it up I went over there and tried to start it with a battery box.
According to my friend it was standing there for 10 years and was started once about 5 or 6 years ago.
Connecting the battery and inserting the key it spun over.
After a while starting it it even started to run. Not at full speed but it ran for some minutes. The oil pressure was building up the air pressure. So I had good hopes. But then I noticed that the clutch pedal was not working properly ( no oil was present) .
I did manage to move the truck a few inches out of its puddle where it was sitting for all this time.
In the mean time my friend had also some good news. The papers were found.
So a date was planned to pick up the truck.
And on Wednesday 30 September 2015 around 18h30 the truck was pulled on the low bed truck with a tractor and we were able to take off.
And then it was offloaded at my home.
Today I even started working on the truck.
The oil pump to lift the cabin and tilt it forward was not working so I took it apart.
